(Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Contributions to the early history of Canterbury province, New Zealand, were the subject of a paper which Mrs William Moore ("Dora Wilcox") read to the Australian English Association in Sydney. Mrs Moore made special reference to Samuel Butler who, she said, occupied a curious position in English literature. Mrs Moore linked the history of Canterbury with her description of Canterbury's'early literature and referred at length to the efforts of the early writers associated with Canterbury. She dealt in iurn with James Fitzgerald, Charles Bowen, Dr. Rouse, Henry Jacobs, Jessie Mackay and others.
