CHARGE OF SHOPLIFTING.

AUCKLAND, June 13

, A charge of shoplifting" .against a young farmer was dismissed by the Court to-day.

Shop assistants said that the accused man was found with articles inside his coat. He had been a customer of the firm for a long time. The defence contended that a grave mistake had been made. It was said that the goods inside the coat could be easily seen and that accused was carrying the into a counter to be wrapped. Supporting evidence was given that accused’s character was unimpeachable.

The Magistrate said that accused should have the benefit of the doubt.
