ORDER TO MAKE RESTITUTION. (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, June 13. Two young men from Takaka, Nelson, were charged before Mr McKean, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court with stowing away on the Marama at Auckland on June 2. The accused, James John Dalton, a labourer, aged 22, and Ronald Alva Simmonds, a labourer, aged 20, both pleaded guilty. It was stated that they crossed from Nelson to the North Island and walked from Wellington to Auckland in search of work. They boarded the Marama at Auckland, but were detained in Sydney and sent back to New 7 Zealand. The accused were convicted. Each was ordered to pay £5 as restitution, in default six weeks’ ihprisonment.
