DAIRY PRODUCE.
THE MARKETS IN BRITAIN IMPORTERS’ VIEW OF PRICES (Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, April G. _ The Dairy Produce Exporters’ Association this morning considered the following cablegram from the JNew Zealand IDlairy Produce Importers’ Association, London: — “Importers very concerned regarding present disastrous state of butter market and future’ prospects as if we are to receive the same quantity of foreign butter as last year we fail to see how the total supplies can be absorbed except at prices lower than .those ruling. While opinions of importers differ regarding the policy of proposed restrictions of Dominion butter the good faith on either side has never been doubted, and we are unanimous in stating that any opinions expressed have not been actuated' by personal interest. At a joint meeting of the New, Zealand and Australian Associations held to-day (April o) n deputation was appointed to interview the Minister of Agriculture to petition for a restriction of foreign supplies.” « Discussing the cablegram, the Exporters’ Association members expressed satisfaction. The cablegram entirely contradicts 'the statement of the actingchairman and secretary of the board to the effect that some importers are acting from tho point of view of selfinterest rather than the interests of the'industry. The issues at stake are so vital and important to New Zealand that any further suggestions of tional interest are to be deprecated.
