M<VN CONVICTED AND DISCHARGED. FINE FOR BAD LANGUAGE. (Per Press Association) OHRISTCHURCH, This Day. For having threatened! Mr H. G. Ell, ex-M.P., who .-is in charge of the work on the Summitt Road, James IDowdall was to-dav convicted and discharged. He was fined £2 for having used indecent language. The police alleged.that Dowdall, who was formerly employed on the Hills, said he would break Mr Ell's neck or hang for him. A dispute had occurred regarding the ownership of a barrow. Dowdall admitted that he had lost his temper.
