CUSTOMS TARIFF REDUCED. (Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 16. A redaction of one-third in the British preferential tariff on ale, beer porter and cider was the subject of an Order-in-Council gazetted this evening The preferential rate and the general tariff fixed bv the Customs Act Amendment Act, 1931, were both 3d for a gallon or for lota of six reputed quart bottles of other capacity. The amendment gazetted this evening reduces the preferential rate to 2s for a gallon or its equivalent in bottles. The amendment also exempts beer and ales from various British dominions from surtax.
