WHEAT-GROWING.
INCREASE IN MANAWATU.
RECORD ANTICIPATED. (Special to the " Guardian.") PALMERSTON NORTH, Dec. 9. Due to the low prices offering for lamb and wool, arid the guaranteed price offered for wheat by millers, it is expected that the wheat harvest in the Manawatu district this year will show a large increase in acreage compared with last year. It is estimated that approximately 3000 acres of land in the Feilding and Shandon districts have been sown in wheat.
The season has been particularly suitable for wheat growing, and should the weather remain favourable until the conclusion of the harvesting season, it is expected that there will be record yields. Last year's yields varied from 30 to 40 bushels an acre, the average in the Feilding district being about 40 bushels.
