THE MQTUEKA BY-ELECTION. (Special to the “Guardian.”) WELLINGTON, October 30. The date selected for the Motqeka by-election will be the subject of an official announcement this week. Tentative dates are before Cabinet, but no decision has yet been reached. It is understood that the choice lies between Wednesday, November 23, and Thursday. December 1, with the latter date as the probable selection. Nominations will close about a fortnight before Die election. Formal preliminaries will take place in the House on Tuesday, when Mr Speaker will issue his warrant to the Clerk of the Writs, directing him to issue a writ to supply the vacancy. The writ, which discloses the dates of the election of the closing of nominations, is expected to be issued on Wednesday.
