BARQUE'S FAST TRIP.
PAMIR AT QUEENSTOWN. "WINDJAMMERS' DERBY." LONDON, July 1. The four-masted barque Pamir (2777 tons), one of the vessels in the "Windjammers' Derby;" has arrived at Queenstown. She has established the fastest time from Australia of all arrivals up to the present. The voyage from Walaroo occupied 103 days. Captain Sjogren, on arrival, said they had encountered foul weather at the'outset of the voyage. They rounded Cape Horn on the 32nd day and crossed the Line on the 64th day out.
A violent gale on April 5 caused injuries to the helmsman. Calms and light airs followed. The ship was off Ireland for a week, awaiting a favourable wind.
They spoke to the sailer Parma on June 11.
The times of the other ships to date are as follows: Herzogin Cecilie (2584 tons), Finnish barque, Port Augusta to Falmouth, 106 days ; Abraham Rydberg (2179 tons) Swedish barque, Wallaroo to London, 123 days; Killoran (1523 tons) Finnish barque, Port Augusta to London, 130 days; Winterhude, (1972 tons) Finnish barque. Port Pirie to Queenstown, 146 days.
