ROBBED IN STREET

WOMAN BRUTALLY ASSAULTED. TWO MEN WITH MOTOR CAR. (Special to the •' Guardian.") CHRISTOHURCH, This Day. Miss E. Jtisa/bidge, manageress ot E.. Adams and Co., by»a, Coiomoo'Street, was tne victim of a brutal attack by two men on Friday evening. The men followed her after she left the office, and wnen in Ifitzgerald Street, one oi them seized her by the throat, while the other snatched a hag containing about £3O, which she was carrying. The men then leapt into a waiting motor car, which sped out of signt along Edward Avenue, with its lights out.

Miss Harbidge frequently carries home with her the takings of the shop, and the fact that she was shadoweu almost to her home in Fitzgerald Street seems to indicate that this fact was known to persons other than her self and her employer.

(Carrying the money in a small bag Miss Harbidge left the shop at about 10 p.m., travelling the greater part of the way by tram. When she alighted from the tram at Edward Avenue, one other passenger also got off, and walked behind her at a short distance. He did not appear to be in any hurry to pass her.

As Miss Harbidge approacFell the Fitzgerald Street corner, she saw a motor car standing by the kerbing with the lights out. No one was in or about the car as she approached it, but the engine was running. At that moment a man jumped from the shadow of a garage, and seized her by the throat. Her mouth was held so that she could not cry out. Miss Harbidge struggled to get away, but. was atttacked by another, man, who snatched her bag with the money, and got into the waiting car.
