UNEMPLOYED RELIEF.
THE MOUNT HUTT COMMITTEE. Reporting to the Mount Hutt Road Board yesterday, Mr A. G. Foreman (clerk to the District Committee) said that under No. 5 Scheme 20 men have been given relief during the month, with the aggregate number of days as follows: Ono hundred and forty-seven day divided thus—Road Board 39£ days, County Council 50J, Cemetery 32, Highbank Domain 9£, Lyndhurst School 8, Methven School 7*. The wages amounted to £9O 12s 6d, making a total of £314 19s 6d since the commencement of the scheme this year. The relief workers had been cutting and grubbing gorse, and cutting and splitting timber in the Cemetery. A number were engaged on the stormAvater course which was being straightened near Hendry and Davidson's property. Work on the formation of footpaths on the Main Highway near Pyne, Gould, Guinness's premises was being undertaken. Forty-eight men were on farms under No. 4A Scheme. Topping of trees in the Highbank Cemetery would be undertaken when the ploughing of' the area was completed. There are 25 men on the register for employment under the No. 5 Scheme.
