GUILTY OF THEFT.

JUDGE EXTENDS LENIENCY. (Special to the "Guardian.") GREYMOUTH, June 13. In the Supreme Court at Greymouth before Mr Justice Adams, Harry New? ton Osmers appeared for sentence for the theft of £4l 10s 8d from the State Forest Department at Hokitika'. He was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon within twelve months, and to pay the costs of the prosecution, £1 Is. His Honor stated that, he took an unusual course in view of the good reports placed before him and the fact that restitution in full had been made. He expressed the hope that prisoners future career- would justify the leniency accorded him.
