LINDBERGH'S BABY.

EX-CONVICT ARRESTED. (United Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK, June 12. Ernest Brinkert, an ex-convict, a friend of Violet Sharpe, a waitress at the home of Mrs Dwight Morrow, who has committed suicide, was arrested on Friday night in connection with the kidnapping of Colonel Lindbergh's son. Before her death Sharpe had pointed out to the police a picture of Brinkert as the man who conversed with her on the telephone on the afternoon of the kidnapping, and who eventually went out with her that night. Dr. John F. Congdon (Colonel Lindbergh's intermediary) was quoted by the police to-night as saying that the picture of Brinkert was that of the man to whom he paid 50,000 dollars ransom in New York Cemetery on April 2. However, when Dr Congdon was confronted with Brinkert early on Saturday he was uncertain whether Brinkert was the man to whom he paid the ransom. He said he could not be certain one way or the other.

POLICE THEORY COLLAPSES. NEW YORK, June 12. The entire police theory which is sought to link Violet Sharpe and Ernest Brinkert with the Lindbergh kidnapping, apparently collapsed on Saturday, when Ernest Miller, of Gloster, came to police headquarters and seemingly satisfied the authorities that he and not Brinkert, was Miss Sharpe's companion on the night of March 1. Brinkert, however, remained closeted with the authorities for the time being.
