All Saints Church, Langham Place, was the scene of one of the most brilliant weddings of the season when Lady Myrtle Jellicoe (second daughter of the Admiral of the Fleet Earl Jellicce and the Countess Jellicoe), was married to Mr Lionel Maxwell Balfour (only son of Mr and Mrs Maxwell Balfour). The church was a blaze of scarlet British Legion poppies in accordance with the bride's wishes. The guests included Princess Alice, Princess Helena Victoria and Princess Marie Louise. The bride's three sisters were the bridesmaids, and the Bishop of Sheffield (Dr. L. H. Burrows) officiated. Their Majesties' gift was a gold toilet set.
