The potato and onion markets still maintain the firmness which lias been apparent for the past fortnight. During the week there has been a steady , demand for potatoes from all parts of the North Island, and the large shipment which arrived there by the Waipiata had no depressing effect The shipment arrived to a bare market and. sales ex the wharf were well up to expectations. The f.c>b. price for Junes is £6 10s. This gives a return to the, farmer of £5 5s and for close stations a little more. DUNEDIN MARKETS. DUNEPIN, June 10. Wheat.—The milling wheat market has reached a stage where there are practically no offerings. An occasional small lot of milling quality Comes to hand and is readily taken up by millers at the fixed pricess for June, namely, on the basis of 4s 6d f.o.b. for Tuscan, 4s lid for Hunters and 5s Id for Velvet. The fowl-wheat market is firm. Distributors have fair stocks and these are moving off slowly. There is not the same quantity of fowl wheat selling around the town as in previous years. Value of best quality-is 4s 6d per bushel, sacks extra, ex trucks, Bunedin. A fair quantity of wheat has already been sown for next season's harvest, as farmers have been taking advantage of the favourable weather conditions to get their wheat in early. Indications point to a larger sowing-down than in previous years. . Oats.—-The, market continues quiet, with no alteration in values. An occasional order is being received for shipment but there is not the demand for any great quantity. A Gartons are worth 3s Bd, f.0.b., s.i., and B's 3s 4d, Undergrade is worth 3s 2d to 3s 3d, but is not in demand, orders received being chiefly for grade lines. For truck loads the value is £4 10s per ton, sacks extra, ex Potatoes.—The market has firmed during the week, following on the inclination of Canterbury growers to hold their supplies. This has been reflected on the local market and today's value for good quality tubers is from £5 5s to £5 10s per ton, sacks Seeds.—The markets are lifeless, with practically no business gome through.
