MURDER IN HOBART.
OLD MAN SHOT DEAD. CRIMINALS DEMAND MONEY. HOBART, April 3. A cold-blooded murder was perpetrated in Harrington Street, Hobart, to-day. The victim was Charles Whelan, aged 63, a wa-tersider, living alone, who was shot dead by two men ; wlio Inter were seen running away from the scene. , A neighbour heard the men demanding monev in the vilest language and also Whelan’s protests. Then there was a shot and a cui'se. The neighbour „ followed the men for some distance and then returned and found Whelan dead'.
