NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION. SMALL LOSS FOR THE YEAR, (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. The annual report of the New Zealand Rugby Union says that the working expenses for. the year shows an excess of expenditure over receipts of £56 Is 7d. It points out that there are a number of items not likely to recur. A donation of £550 was given to the Hawke's Bay Relief Fund and a grant of £492 Os lOd was given to the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union for rehabilitation grounds. The Australian tour resulted in a profit of £952 Is 2d!, and the North v. South game yielded £621 14s Bd. The Prince of Wales Cup match resulted in a loss of £335 6s 9d, and the tour of the Maori team for the Seddon Shield cost the union £284 16s 7d. Loans had been granted the following unions during the year -.—Auckland £3500, in addition to the existing loan of £1600; O.tago £2500; Wanganui £SOO, part of £I9OO sanctioned, and in addition to the existing loan of £600; Canterbury £4OOO, in addition to the existing loan of £1000; West Coast £3100; Manawatu £1500; Southland £500; Bush (Districts £250. Loans had been approved but not finalised as follows: —Wairarapa £2500; King Country £600;- North Auckland £1500; Golden Bay-,Motueka £6OO. Other applications were receiving the attention of the committee.
