EMPIRE ECONOMICS.

PROPOSED SECRETARIAT. DOMINION'S HELP' URGED. LONDON, March 8. It is hoped by those engaged in making the British Government's preparations for the Ottawa Conference, that the Dominions will respond to the suggestion for the establishment of a permanent Empire economic secretariat to co-ordinate the work of all Imperial economic bodies. . The Federation of British Industries and other important interests, strongly support it. But they consider that preliminary discussions are imperative. It is emphasised that the secretariat would not in any way savour of British control, but would be an organisation in which the Dominions would be equal partners. Its prestige would be much greater than by permitting existing organisations to continue separately.
