CHORUS GIRL'S RECORD
43 SEASON'S IN GRAND OPERA. Another record has been won for Britain—by a <M-year-old chorus girl. She is Miss Marie Savage, who left London 25 years ago to go into the chorus of the Metropolitan Opera House, New York. Noav she is the oldest working chorus girl, with a record for long service in this capacity. Every season Miss Savage takes her place iii the ranks of the chorus. She is known and loved by stall-holders and stage hands; by prima, donnas and members of the orchestra. They call her "Queen of the Chorus." a She looks less than haif her age. "Years ago when I found there was no opportunity for me to become an opera star," Miss Savage said lately, "I decided to do the next best thing and become a really efficient member of the chorus. "I've had 43 consecutive seasons ot chorus singing, and I feel good for another ten. I know the choruses and most of the roles of about 125 operas, and I can sing them in various languages." , Marie Savage is famous for impersonations of duchesses in Court scenes. She will eventually retire on a pension.
