CAR DRIVER KILLED.
(Per Press Association). HAMILTON, August 17
Mr Leslie Truss, aged 22, of Plitaruru, was Irilled outright when the car he was driving between Rotorua and Putaruru at 1.30 on Sunday morning left the road in a fog and crashed over a sixty-foot bank. Two other occupants were not injured.
YOUTH'S NECK BROKEN. HAMILTON, August 17. William Leslie Shieb, aged 19, employed by Mr W. J. Pond, a settler at Kauroa, near Raglan, was found dead to-day. He had been taking feed out to cattle when the sledge capsized. His neck was broken and he had sustained other injuries.
SHIP'S COOK FOUND DROWNED.
NAPIER, August 17. Mr William Catchpole, a cook by occupation on the steamer Orepuki, was found drowned at the breakwater just after noon to-day. He belonged to Wellington. Deceased was seen on deck five minutes before the body was found, and seemed to be working in a normal maimer. The inquest was adjourned for inquiries.
DALMATIAN LOSES A HAND.
WAIROA, August 17
A Dalmatian, Mr G. Matich, a married man, had a hand blown off this morning at the railway construction camp at Kotemaori in an explosion of gelignite. He was admitted to hospital.
