MISS DOROTHY BRUNTON.
'United Press Association— Copyright) MELBOURNE, August .17. Miss Dorothy Brunton, the wellknown actress, was quietly marrietTOoday to Mr Ben; Dawson, a city business man.
Miss Dorothy Brunton, who became one'of the most popular actresses under the direction of J. C. Williamson, Ltd., with both the pubhe and the profession, was born and educated in Melbourne. She studied singing under Madame Grace Ward. Her first appearance on the stage was at the Theatre Royal, Adelaide as a flower girl in '-'The Wh ite Heather." Subsequently she became a great favourite on the musical comedy stage, taking the lead in such comedies as me Merry Widow," "High Jinks" and many others. After the war she went to London, where she succeeded Miss "Winifred Barnes as Marline de Launay in /'Soldier Boy." She also, appeared, in "The Bantam V.C." and "Baby Bunting" at the St. Martin's Theatre and the Shaftesbury respectively. Keturning to Australia in'l92o, she continued her career at His Majesty s. According to a wireless report received last night from Melbourne, Miss Brunton at first denied the rumour that she was married when interviewed by a reporter, but posted a letter apologising for the "white lie" she had Miss Dorothy Brunton visited NewZealand during the war period, when she played in "So Long, Letty. Hie comedian of the company thep, was Mr Alfred Frith, who is at present touring the Dominion in "Sons o' Guns. ' She was also associated with the late Mr Charles Workman. At present Miss Brunton is acting in "Dearest Enemy and "The Duchess of Danzig" in Melbourne.
