BRASS BANDS.
THE CONTEST AT WELLINGTON.
(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, June 12. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Band Contest Committee, the president (Mr H. 1). Bennett), in his report, stated that the contest previously abandoned would be held in Wellington next February. He announced that arrangements for the single control of New Zealand bauds had been completed and the old North Island and South Island Associations had been in favour of a single body with headquarters in Wellington. Mr J. J. Kelly, New South Wales, had been appointed adjudicator for the contest, with Mr A. Schnack as assistant. The programme provides casli prizes amounting to £307 lor A grade tests and £179 for B grade with £75 for the quick-step competition. Tlisre will aiso be an “own choice” hymn test, open to both grades. A departure will be made from the usual custom in that the contest will commence with the big marches on Saturday instead of that event being staged on the last 'day.
