THE FERRY STEAMER DUCHESS.
(Special to “ The Guardian AUCKLAND, June 12. Mounted on a rostrum decorated witii a brightly-coloured poster advertising the Eastbourne ferry service, an auctioneer to-day vainly attempted to find a new owner for the ferry steamer Duchess, which ran during the summer in the Kawau service. The best bid was £2060, considerably below the reserve, and no sale was made.
