NINE NIGHT HOURS OF ALARM. SHOCKS CONTINUE THIS MORNING. RESIDENTS LEAVE THEIR HOMES (Per Press Association). GISBORNE, This Day. Since 9.15 last night no ’quakes have been experienced at Gisborne. Tinoroto, however, reports that between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. there were 107 shakes of varying intensity, and the shocks are continuing. Residents of the district, numbering about 40, loft their homes, and spent the night at the hotel, sleeping on the floors of rooms and in the passages.
