The Secretary "of State for Foreign Affairs (Mir Henderson), who has been in Paris attending meetings in connection with the scheme for a European economic union, made a statement in which he referred to the proposed Customs agreement between Germany and Australia. He said there weije verv many reasons why he thought the line which'' he ventured to put before the German and Austrian Governments on the matter of a Customs Union should be followed. He and M. Briand had had conversations, and he thought there was a general «nderstanding between them that the British Government had adopted the right course. He was not officially aware the German and Austrian Chancellors, whose replies he awaited, had said the matter, was not one for the League Council. If they thought so, it would be a matter for serious consideration.— British Official Wireless.
