FOOTBALL.
THE RAKAIA CLUB. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the Rakaia Football Club was held on Monday evening, Mr R. Breach presiding oyer a good attendance. The report presented by the secretary (Mr H. A. .Smith) showed that three teams had been entered in the Ashburton Rugby Union's competitions, the junior team being runner-up in that section. Representative honours had been won by A. Carr, M. O'Reilly, and J. McLauehlan. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £lB 17s 4d in the general fund and £49 2s 6d in the accident x fund. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr J. F. Langley; president, Mr A. Doig; vice-presidents. Mr J. Halliday was added to last year's list; secretary, Mr S. R. Dobbs j assistantsecretary, Mr D. Henderson ; treasurer, Mr L. Street.; committee, Messrs C. Evison (chairman), W. Colombus, A. Doig, A. C. Mead, R. Tatterson, W. Tatterson, A. Watts, O. Davison, L. E. Street, J. Lawler, A. Smith, R. Breach, A. Santy, and J. Connolly; delegates to Ashburton Rugby Union, Messrs H. D. Johnston, C. Evison, R. Breach and L. E. Street; selectors, Messrs L. E. Street, A. C. Mead and W. Colombus; coach, Mr O. Oliver. It was decided to recommend Messrs H. Conway, J. Cromie and A. Shannon to the Referees' Association. It was decided' to commence training on March 24, Tuesdays and Thursdays to be practice nights. It was agreed to arrange the club's insurance fund and the number of teams to be entered in the. competitions at a general meeting to be held on March 30. Messrs C. Evison', S. R. Dobbs and R. Breach were appointed an Emergency Committee. It was decided to open the season with a friendly gairk? against Hororata on April 11.
