Professor James Shelley, Professor of Education at Canterbury College, has been offered a travelling fellowship of the Carnegie Institute, of New York, by which he is entitled to a special term of travel and study (says a Christchureh telegram). A grant of £V>ooo goes with the fellowship, but there are no restrictions as to where it is to be used. Such offers have been rare- in the Dominion, though there have been previous cases.
