MURDER OF HINDU.
REWARD FOR INFORMATION OFFERED. (Special to "The Guardian.") HAWERA, March 10. A reward of "3E250 has been offered for information leading .to the apprehension of the murderer of Nana Chbiba, a Hindu fruiterer whose body was found at the rear of his shop on the night of Sunday, February 1. An inquest was arranged for to-day but on the police, application it has been adjourned sine die. Ghbiba, who was known familiarly as David, was discovered by the police, in the back room of his shop, High Street, Hawera, at 11 p.m. He had five frightful wounds in the back ot his head, and his face was coveml with a coir mat. -\ The wounds were apparently inflicted with a tomahawk, and the man had been, fiend, according to medical opinion for at least twelve hours. Robbery is the suggested motive for the murder, as the till had been ranIt would appear that the Hindu was the victim of an unexpected attack, as there were no signs of a struggle or of any disorder in the shop or livingrooms'. Deceased Avas reputed to be a man of some means. His firm had been in business in Hawera for fifteen years and owned a freehold shop. He also occupied other business property. The Saturday night takings would be, it is estimated about £6O.
