CRICKET.

THE CELTIC CLUB. The annual meeting of the Celtic Cricket Club was held last evening, Mr E'. McSherry (president) presiding over a good attendance The annual report stated that members were to be congratulated on having, in its third season, won the junior competition. This meritorious achievement was due to the assiduous practice indlulged in by a big majority of the team and the keenness and enthusiasm of members generally throughout the season and to the capable manner in which the team was handled by the captain (Mr AV. Rapley). A marked improvement was shown in the standard of play as the season advanced, several of the younger players being specially noticeable in this respect. An enjoyable feature of the activities was the series of friendly matches played (six), all of which were either won or drawn. Messrs H. Lennon, A. Jordan and AV. Rap ley had gained representative honours. The Club was in a good financial position, having a credit balance of £5 16s 2d. It was a matter for regret that such a large number of members’ subscriptions were outstanding. The report concluded by thanking lady supporters for the interest shown by them. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as fpllows :—Patron, Mr E. McSherry; president, J. Moylan; a number of vice-presidents were elected; treasurer, Mr A. O’Connor; joint-secretaries, Messrs E. Brophy and F. Lennon; committee, Messrs B. McSherry, F. J. Lennon, F.. Lennon, H. Jordan, E. Brophy, and C.
