MOTORIST’S LAPSE.

WITHOUT LIGHTS.

(Special to £ ‘Tlie Guardian.”) CHRISTCHURCH, September 19. There was a humorous sidelight on the Lake Coleridge power situation in the traffic Court this morning in a case against Frank P. Hill, a solicitor who was charged with parking without lights on. "This is a case of a citizen placing too much faith in the Public Works Department,” said counsel. Mr Sampson. '‘Defendant is in the habit of parking his car under a street lamp in Latimer Souare. The Public Works Department always put the lights on, but in this case they failed to do so. "The defendant,” said counsel, "is little more than a lad, and should be treated leniently.” "A solicitor of the Court should be fined twice as much,” said the Magistrate, smilingly. "Mr Hut will have to make a small contribution —ss, costs 35.”
