INDO-CHINA REVOLT.

MANY THOUSANDS OF REBELS. CHECKED BY FRENCH ’PLANES. (United- Press Association—Copyright.) HONG-KONG, September 19. Reports received here reveal chaotic conditions in French Indo-China, Annam, where scarcely a day passes without armed clashes between native bands rebelling against French rule. The most serious incident- in point of view of casualties occurred last Friday at Vinh, an important North Annam centre, where an army of rebels many thousand strong marched on and launched a massed attack. The French forces were in readiness and employed a squadron of military ’planes, which checked the rebels in a lively encounter, the latter leaving over 100 dead. Hundreds were wounded, and many were captured by French pursuers. The country resembles a war zone. The French are supplementing the existing forces with Foreign Legion detachments.
