BOOT TRADE DISPUTE.

INCREASED WAGES SOUCHT. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The hearing of the Dominion boot trade's industrial dispute is proceeding at the Arbitration Court. An increase in the minimum rate to 2s 6d an hour is being sought by the union. As regards female workers, the union asks for a weekly wage and weekly employment, instead of the present hourly rate. The employers want the renewal of the present award, basing their opposition to the claims on the economic position of the Dominion and of the industry itself.
