RUGBY UNION

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. MATCH WITH NORTH OTAGO. The Management Committee of the Ashburton Rugby Union met last evening, when the president (Mr S. H. Sullivan) presided. Mr It. H.* Biggar (manager of the senior representative team last Saturday) reported on the- match against North Otago. This was the finest seen in Ashburton for many years, and was won by Ashburton by 24 points to 16. A. McCormick and M. O’lieilly (emergency) wrote explaining that they were unable to attend the match against North Otago last Saturday, the former having injured his shoulder, and the latter being in Christchurch.

The Springburn Club wrote that it was unable to field a full team against Lowclilfe last Saturday and was obliged to forfeit it.

The South Canterbury Union wrote thanking the Ashburton Union for its hospitality to the southern representative teani at Ashburton on September 16. The High School Slub notified the Union that owing to numerous injuries, and also to the school vacation, it would be impossible for its third-grade team to take the field on the next two Saturdays. Mr H. Sarney was appointed manager of the senior representative team to play against Canterbury B, at Ashburton on Saturday. It was reported the fourth grade competition had been closed, the winner being Technical A.
