Miss Betty Nuthall (England) defeated Miss Mary Lamme, of Rye,. 6-1. 6-1, in the second round of the women's national tennis at Forest Hills. Miss Edith Cross defeated Miss Alice Francis 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Miss Nuthall and Miss Cross meet on Wednesday. TOURNAMENT AT NEWPORT. (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) NEW YORK, August 19. At the tennis tournament at Newport, in the third round, Frank Shields defeated Doeg, 6-4, 1-0, 10-12, 6-2.
