BASKETBALL.

THE ASHBURTON ASSOCIATION.

The Ashburton Basketball Association met last evening, when the president (Mr R. J. Thompson) presided. The results of the seven-a-side and knock-out competitions were received and considered satisfactory. Only the final of the senior knock-out remains to be played and this will be completed on Saturday. It was decided to purchase medals for the winners of the junior, as well as the senior seven-a-side.

Miss Garbutt donated a cup for the winners of the junior knock-out competition. Owing to pressure of business, Miss Garbutt tendered her resignation as secretary. A vote of thanks was accorded her for her services, and for her action in donating the cup. Reports of steps taken by different clubs to raise money for the pavilion fund were received. Miss H. Neville, a member of the Association and a referee, who is leaving shortly to be married, was recipient of the good wishes of the Association. It was decided to hold the presentation of trophies at a social evening later in the season. ASHBURTON V. S. CANTERBURY. PRIMARY SCHOOLS' TEAMS.
