GRAVE ALLEGATIONS
COMMITTED TO A HOME. WRIT OF HABEAS CORPUS CASE. OTAGO FARMER'S CONDITION. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Further argument was heard to-clay by Mr Justice Smith in the Supreme Court on a writ of Habeas Corpus in the case of Cecil Hazlett, a. farmer, of North Taieri, Otago. who was committed to the Inebriates' Home at Rotoroa Island. Mr J. "J. Sullivan, for Hazlett, stated that the warrant for committal had been lost. He alleged' that the Magistrate who issued the warrant was deliberately selected by the complainant (a brother of applicant), and taken into his confidence and that the Magistrate was prepared to fall in with complainant's arrangements. Mr Sullivan also alleged that the time the order was made Hazlett was in no condition t« undergo a fair trial, as required by law. The case is proceeding.
