HOCKEY.
NORTH ISLAND MATCH. NORTH AND SOUTH DRAW. NELSON, August IG. The annual match between _ the hockey representatives of the North and South Islands was played at Trafalgar Park this afternoon, in dull but fine weather. It was a fast and open exhibition. Considering that it was the first time 4 the teams had been together, surprisingly good combination, particularly by the North, was shown. The game, which ended in a draw, one goal each, just about indicated the merits of the teams.
SIX-A-SIDE COMPETITION. A six-a-side tournament was conducted by the Ashburton Ladies' Hockey Association on Saturday, in dull but fine weather. Good games wore witnessed. The senior grade was won by Tinwald, and the junior by Lauristcn. Details are as follow: Senior Grade. First Somors B .V, Hinds A 0; Rakaia E defeated Tinwald B by fiefault- High School 4, M*.
