METROPOLITAN TROTS. CONCLUDING EVENTS. (Por Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The August meeting of the New Zealand Metropolitan Club was concluded at Addington yesterday. The day opened ip bright sunshine, which continued until the horses were on the track until the last race, when a dense fog enveloped the course,' making it impossible to distinguish the horses when they were much more than 100 yards distant. The track was in excellent order, and there was ' some great racing, with several close, finishes. There was a. mix-up in the National Cup about two furlongs from the finish. Travis Axworthy falling and bringing Linkman down. As a result of an inquiry, J. S. Shaw, the driver of Native Prince, was fined £25 for careless driving. , The totalisator investments again showed a decrease. The following are the figures for the meeting, last year’s figures being given in parentheses: —First day, £23,421 (£34,610 10s); second day, £37,158 10s (£49,720 10s); third day, £40,589 (£50,294); totals. £101.178 10s (£134,625). Concluding results : Heathcote Handicap (in harness), of 400 soys; two miles—4 Invader (C. S. Donald) 1, 1 Neero 2. 3 Grandlight 3. Won by three lengths; a neck between second and third. Time, 4min 26soc. Addington Handicap (in 450 sovs; two miles—2 John Mauritius (W. J. Tomkinson) 1, 4 Maxegin 2, 1 Engagement 3. Won by three lengths; four lengths between .second and third. Time, 4min 83 2 j ssec. Islington Handicap (in harness), of 400 sovs; two miles —1 Royal Silk (C. S. Donald) .1, 5 Apex 2, 4 Mac -Dillon 3. Won by., a length ; four lengths between second and third. Time, 4min 29 l-ssec.
Farewell Handicap (in harness), of 400 sovs; one mile and a quarter —3 Native Prince (J. S. Shaw) 1, 10 Bonny Logan 2, 6 Logan Park 3. Won by half a length ; a similar distance between second and third. Time, 2min 43sec.
ROYAL SILK'S WIN. INQUIRY ADJOURNED. OHRISTCHURCH, This Day. After Royal Silk won the Islington Handicap at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's meeting yesterday the Judicial Committee commenced an inquiry into his running, compared with his form earlier in the meeting. The inquiry was resumed after the last race, and again last night at the club's office. There was a lengthy sitting, and eventually the inquiry was further adjourned until to-night at the club's office. The totalisator investments on the race have been impounded, pending the result of the inquiry. MOTION TO WIND UP. . BRISBANE AMATEUR TURF CLUB. (Laited Press Association—Copyright.) BRISBANE, August 15. # Mr T. Jack, a member of the Brisbane Amateur Turf Club, has caused <a sensation by giving notice of his intention to move at the annual meeting that the club be dissolved, owing to being unable to meet its financial obligations. The club has made an average profit of £30,000 for the seven years prior to last .year, when the profit dropped to £13,000.
