Bavin) has made an appeal for Federal and State co-operation for solving Australia's financial problems. It is imperative, he said, if the present crisis is to be met, that a. definite and binding agreement should be arrived, at by the Governments of the Commonwealth and of the States for the adoption of a common policy in a matter so vital to Australia. I cannot refraim from expressing the hope that Mr Scullin will not take his departure until definite and effective arrangements have been made for meeting the situation.. There is no need for panic, and no reason to doubt that our difficulties can be met and overcome. „ _. . A financial conference of Premiers and Treasurers will be held, at Melbourne on Monday.
