THE WEATHER.
HEAVY FROST AND RAIN. A heavy frost of 13 degrees' intensity was recorded this morning. Large banks of dense clouds formed to obscure the sun. Overcast, threatening conditions prevailed until about 10 o'clock this morning, when rain fell lightly, but steadily, increasing as the morning advanced. The day was bitterly cold, and dreary conditions continued throughout the remainder of the day. The thermometer has a falling tendency, the pressure at 9 o'clock this morning being 29.36 inches, as against 29.56 yesterday. The maximum temperature yesterday was 48.3 degrees, and the minimum during last night 26.5 degrees.
TO-DAY'S FORECAST. The following forecast was issued today : Indications are for easterly winds, moderate to strong and veering by east to south and freshening to a gale. Expect dull weather, which will probably become very cold, with much mist and foe in parts; rain and snow orobable. The barometer is falling, but later rising.
