OCCUPANTS’ NARROW ESCAPE. (Per Press Association.) CARTERTON, This Day. A fire at 2.30 on Sunday morning destroyed a two-roomed dwelling at Kokotau, owned and occupied by Mr James Scott, a fanner. Mr Scott was absent in Wellington. The occupants, Messrs-..!-, and M. Scott (two sons), Mr and Mrs iVicNab and a child, had only time to pick up their clothes and save themselves. The insurance on the house is £I2OO, and on the contents £540.

- WATCHED THEIR HOME BURN. WANGANUI, July 20. A 10-roomod house, owned by Mr J. M. Wells, was totally destroyed by fire on Saturday night. The tenant, Mr H. Rowe and his wife, watched the blaze from St. John’s Hill, not knowing the home was theirs. When they returned later only the chimneys were standing.
