POPPY DAY.
Sir, —I feel sure that the public will contribute liberally to the Soldiers Fund to-morrow by the purchase of poppies. If many of the people who contribute knew the need, they would be generous and not stop at the proverbial shilling. While the r fund is primarily in the interest of New Zealand men, there are some Imperial soldiers who fought side by side with our own boys who are in dire distress because the' funds are conserved for New Zealanders. This can be remedied by liberal contributions. A man's needs of food and rest are the same whatever part of the Empire he comes from. If we are not in reach of the poppy sellers to-morrow, we can at least" be as hospitable to these defenders of our Empire as the early squatters were to the wayfarers of bygone davs. (Dunedin has done handsomely. 'Let us act in the Scotch and do likewise. REMEMBER KIPLING'S WORDS.
