W.E.A. LECTURE.

EARLY NEW ZEALAND HISTORY.

There was a good attendance of members of the Ashburton branch of the Workers' Educational Association last evening, when Mr W. Crawford' continued his series of lectures on Aew Zealand History. His subject dealt with the early discoveries and the settlement of the country and the work of the missionaries. Mr Crawford gave a very interesting review of the events following Tasman s cursory explorations, of the infrequent visits "of whalers, and the coming of Captain Cook. He then dealt AVith the earlv history and settlement or the islands and of the work of the missionaries.. The lecturer answered a number ot questions, and was accorded a vote of thanks.
