DOMINION PRODUCE. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. (Special to the ’‘Guardian.”) WELLINGTON, April 17. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram dated April 5 from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow—The market is quiet with poor demand at auction’, and prices are slightly easier. Ini all 706 packages were offered and 133 were sold. Present quotations for spot are: Mutton, tine 38s; fair to good 35s to 36s 6d; dark to dull 3‘2s 6d to 335. Beef, sweet and (or) mixed 36s 6d to 4‘2s; fair to good 34s to 365; dark to dull 32s to ;j3s. Mixed, fair to good 33s 6d to "35s 6d; dark to dull 32s to 335. Gut, etc., 29s to 32s 6d per cwt. Wool.—The sales continue with stronger general demand, and/ a larger proportion of the offerings has been' sold than was expected. Values are hardening and coarse crossbred has recovered about 5 per cent, of the opening drop. Fruit—Cox’s Orange apples ex s.s. Rangitane were in excellent condition'. Opening prices, extra fancy grade 24s to 27s per case. Other varieties are not quoted yet. S.S. Tainui shipment, final sales, Gravenstein 9s -to 10s, Worcester Pearmain 10s to 12s per case. Oats.—The market is firmer for imported with better consuming demand. German sellers are more reserved. For March shipment high qualities have been sold at 16s 3d. Plate April shipment sold at 13s 3d and June shipment were offered' at 13s English supplies are not so heavy. Gohd white feed are offered at 17s 3d to 18s, choice seed 23s to 245. Nominal value of New Zealand “A” grade Gartons, April shipment, is 22s 6d. p eas .—Maple: The spot market is quiet and steady. . “A” grade Tasmanian, April shipment, sold at 58s. New Zealand new crop No. 1 are offered at 545, but buyers’ ideas are about 50s. A small parcel of old crop afloat sold at 51s. Not much interest is showing. English is in good supply and the demand is chiefly for fine seed, which has sold up to 47s 6d. Best feed are offered at 42s 6d. Blues: Market is dull, -but steady for Japanese. MarchApril shipment sold up to £l3 15s. There is no demand for colonial varieties. Nominal value of; New Zealand blues £l2 to £l3, ex store. Beans.—The market is quiet, but steady. English Winter are quoted at 38s to 395, and small round spring 11s. . . Cocksfoot.—The demand is disappointing, and prices have declined. Present values are 87s c.i.f. DAIRY PRODUCE. OVERSEAS QUOTATIONS. The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board has received the following market report from its London office, dated April 4, 1930: Butter. New Zealand —Salted 124 s to 128 s, unsalted 134 s to 1425. Australian—Salted 122 s to 1265, unsalted 124 s to 128 s. Argentine —Unsalted 118 s to 1225. Danish —132 s f.0.b., 140 sto 142 s spot. Polish —118 s to 1225. The market is depressed. The New Zealand retail price has been reduced to Is 4d, and the Danish retail price is unchanged at Is 6d. Cheese.. v New Zealand —White 76s to 775, up to 78s; coloured 78s to 795, up to 80s. Canadian —White, 96s to 100 s; coloured, 96s to 98s. English —Finest farmers’ 116 sto 1265. The market is firm and supplied are short. OF FARM. Messrs Evans and Bull, Land Agents, 63 Cathedral Square, Christchurch, report having just sold on account of Mr H. N. Armstrong, Buccleuch, Mt. Somers, his farm of 625 acres with all improvements thereon to Mr W. R. Munro. This firm reports a good enquiry for farming properties. —Advt.
