DASTARDLY ACTION.

OBSTRUCTION ON A BRIDGE. MOTOR COLLISION CAUSED. (Per Press Association.) CARTERTON, April 7. At midnight on Saturday A. V. Stevens, who was returning to Car ten-ton from Greytown in a car, noticing an obstruction' placed on the' Waiohine bridge, pulled up suddenly. A following car, driven by H. J. Diufson, of Carterton, with a passenger, I. A. Hart, a well-known representative footballer, crashed into the back.

Hart was thrown against the windscreen and sustained a severely cut chin and a lacerated tongue, necessitating several stitches. Hudson’s car was much damaged. The obstruction apparently was maliciously placed on the bridge, as a similar block had been removed earlier in the evening by a bus driver.
