PARNELL BY-ELECTION
CAMPAICN TO OPEN NEXT WEEK. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 7. The Parnell by-election campaign will open in earnest next' week, when at least two of the candidates are expected to make their opening addresses. The Reform Party will select its official candidate.at a conference of delegates on Thursday evening. The tentative plan of Mr T. Bloodworth (the Labour candidate), is to open bis campaign next Tuesday, but the date is open to revision. It is probable that Mr W. A. Donald (the official United candidate), will also make his first speech to electors on that date.
The electorate is a fairly compact one. and it is considered that three weeks will be sufficient time to allow the candidates to cover the territory. It is believed that several Ministers will visit the electorate toward the close of the campaign to sponsor the candidature of Mr Donald. Parliamentary representatives of two other Parties will also probably enter the lists.
