CAPITAL VALUE.

COUNTY TOTAL OVER £11,000,000. A DECREASE OF '£395,111* The net capital value of the Ashburton County is £11,093,345. Several objections to the valuations were received in each riding, but in order to arrive at this figure, and to allow for some of the objections being upheld, 10 per cent, of the amount of the value of the properties of objectors, has been, deducted from the total which includes the objectors' valuations. A decrease of £395,111 is shown when compared with last year. Only two ridings show an increase as follow: Coldstream £-18,807. Wakanui £28,110. Seven ridings showed a decrease, the valuation of the Rangitata Hiding, £922,988 being a decrease of £155,231 as against last year. The number of objectors to the valuations in the various ridings were as follow:—Mount Hutt ,32, Upper Ashburton 32, Longbeach 15, Mount Somers 14, Wakanui 11, South Itakaia 8, Anama 7, Coldstream 7, Rangitata 7.
