RAIDED BY POLICE
GAME AFTER HOURS.
BILLIARDS AND PYJAMAS. SUNDAY MORNING IN AUCKLAND (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 4. Discoveries made by a Police. Ser-, geant and four constables who visited a billiard saloon in Dominion Road at 4.30 on a recent Sunday morning were iclated at length in the Police Court. The proprietors of the saloon, according to witnesses, had been sitting outside in a car while inside girls were lying on couches. Some were in beach pyjamas, and some showed signs of liquor. The click of billiard balls, which showed that a game was being played in the saloon when it was required by law to be closed, first drew tho attention of the police to the saloon. Cuthbert Rawson vas fined £5 with costs, for permitting billiards to be played in his saloon at an hour When it was required to be closed. Three .men and three girls were charged with being found on the premises. The men were each fined £l. with costs, and the girls were convicted and discharged.
