SUPER LAND-TAX.
CASES OF HARDSHIP CONSIDERED COMMISSION NOW IN NAPIER (Per Press Association.) Wellington, March 24. “Every consideration has been given by the Commission to the cases of hardship that have come before it, and some substantial reductions in taxation have been made,” said tlie Minister for Lands (the Hon. G. AY. Forbes) to a reporter to-day when answering xn inquiry regarding tlie work of the Commission which is investigating of hardship arising out of the imposition for the super land tax. The Minister said he was not prepared at present to disclose the amount of the remissions granted to the petitioning taxpayers. AA lion all the applications had been dealt with, however, a statement' would be made setting out ttye extent of the reductions. , „ Mr Forbes added that the Commission had now disposed of 497 of 587 applications lodged for consideration-, had completed its sittings in Wellington, and had proceeded to Napier for the hearing of oral evidence. For the same purpose Wanganui, Palmerston North and Canterbury would also be visited.
