LIBERAL-LABOUR ASPIRANT. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 24. Mr W. G. Hewitt announces himself as a candidate f(f the Parnell seat in the Liberal-Labour interest. He contested City West unsuccessfully against Mr Parry in 1928. REFORMERS AND UNITED PARTY WELLINGTON, March 24. The Leader of the Opposition (Hon. J G Coates), who paid a flying visit to Wellington to-day, denied in an interview that Mr Jenkins had approached him for the official Refoim nomination. „ Mr Coates said that in the course of a conversation, Mr Jenkins had discussed politics generally, but Mr Coates had stated that he could offer no aclvice to the member. He bad explained, however, that he would expepect his party to accept a member it lie joined! it by walking across the floor of the House during the session. Mr Coates was disinclined to discuss the question of the of the Reform candidate, stating that the choice was a matter for the Parnell branch of the party to determine. The Minister for Health (the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy) returned to Wellington to-day from Auckland, iiheie on Saturday he attended a preliminary meeting of the United organisation. Mr Stallworthy stated that the Auckland branch had preparations well in hand, and he expected that the United selection from the several candidates in prospect would be announced at an early date.
